New Diabetes Treatment Algorithm

StatCoder.com is beta testing a new Palm OS tool based on the new ADA consensus algorithm for the management of Type 2 Diabetes, published last month. Until now, there has not been a consensus algorithm for management of hyperglycemia in Type 2 DM. Of note, the new guidelines call for the immediate immediate initiation of metformin at diagnosis along with lifestyle modifications. Also included is a step-by-step algorithm for the initiation and adjustment of insluin. Comments are welcome.
